Nigel Jackson

Nigel’s coaching philosophy is that it is the leader’s behaviour that is the most influential factor in inspiring excellence in others. Importantly, these behaviours can be developed, strengthened and honed with thoughtful and effective coaching.

Coaching Career

As the founder of Leading Coach, Nigel’s focus is to support individuals and organisations to further strengthen their existing talent. A masters-qualified executive coach and mentor, Nigel has been working in partnership with C-suite executives and senior teams for the past eight years.

His perspectives and insights have been gained from operating at executive and board level for several FTSE 100 companies, over a corporate career spanning three decades. It is this wealth of leadership, stakeholder engagement, talent management and commercial experience that has enabled Nigel to bring a ‘real-world’, pragmatic approach to coaching and mentoring; an approach which clients find especially valuable.

Until 2012, Nigel was a financial services professional, working at executive and board level for a number of leading banking and financial services organisations. Throughout this time, he developed a reputation as a highly-trusted coach, as well as an authentic leader who inspires belief and confidence in others.

Executive Career

Beginning with Lloyds Banking Group, Nigel navigated a seventeen-year career working across the retail, commercial and rapidly changing insurance businesses, both in customer-facing and central leadership roles. His career at Lloyds culminated in an attachment to Scottish Widows where he led the front office integration of the Lloyds and TSB networks’ life and pensions businesses. Subsequently, Nigel joined Aviva to lead the transformation of its newly-formed JV business with the RBS Group. This programme resulted in a totally new, customer centric operating model, providing financial advice to both private and corporate customers.

From Aviva, Nigel joined forces directly with RBS where, more latterly, he was appointed as Managing Director of the UK Private Banking businesses for both RBS and NatWest. Following the onset of the financial crisis, Nigel instigated and led an unprecedented cultural and leadership transformation programme, centred on the rebuilding of trust, both internally and externally. This transformation resulted in the businesses’ most successful period to date.
